Position Overview
As a Quality Engineer/Source Inspector, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that upholds a world-class Quality Assurance system aligned with Canadian and international standards. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by ensuring quality requirements are met, inspection documentation is accurate, and customer needs are supported with confidence. You’ll collaborate with shop personnel, management, engineering, supply chain, and document control teams, while also building strong connections with customers, suppliers, and regulatory partners such as the Technical Safety and Standards Association (TSSA). This is a dynamic role where your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will help drive excellence across our operations.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve internal history dockets.
- Create inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Review and approve Supplier Inspection and Test Plans. Work with suppliers to rectify issues when required.
- Participate in internal audits with the Quality Engineering team to ensure production and quality processes comply with regulatory requirements (ASME, N299, 10CFR50 Appendix B, etc.).
- Drive and/or collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Ensure process compliance by updating and developing clear yet comprehensive procedures, flowcharts, forms, templates, checklists, and worksheets.
- Act as the Quality Engineer on customer and internal innovation projects as assigned. Communicate quality concerns and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Monitor and maintain client’s Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Drive and/or collaborate to resolve quality issues and implement Corrective Action.
- Perform vendor source inspection activities.
- Awareness and Learning: Actively seek to understand the nuclear industry’s safety standards, regulations, and quality assurance processes. Acknowledge gaps in knowledge and take steps to address them.
- Compliance and Execution: Follow established procedures meticulously, ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols. Take responsibility for assigned tasks and avoid shifting blame.
- Proactive Communication: Report issues promptly and accurately, demonstrating accountability for observations and actions.
- Ownership of Tasks: Accept responsibility for individual contributions and commit to delivering high-quality work
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- An Engineering degree or equivalent quality experience.
- Ideally minimum 4 years of related experience.
- Ability to interface with external suppliers, customers and regulatory representatives.
- Strong experience with technical writing and documentation.
- Working knowledge with quality systems (ASME code, ISO 9001, CSA N299 and N285).
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with proven clear and succinct written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
